The executive secretary of the conference, Hojjatoleslam Khodayar Nasseri, said that more than 500 clerics from different Muslim countries, including Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, Iraq and Yemen, will be attending the one-day event on Wednesday.
He added that some 10 prominent scholars will deliver a speech while two sessions will be held, in which some 30 clerics will participate.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s special representative to Syria hailed the Syrian government and nation’s resistance against Takfiri terrorists and foreign interference.
Ayatollah Seyyed Abolfazl Tabatabai Ashkezari said the Syrian nation had thrown its support behind the government in its fight against terrorists who were backed by hegemonic powers, and managed to defeat them.
He said that Syria was turned into a graveyard for the aggressors, noting “Syria’s victory was the result of its steadfastness, resilience and support for the resistance front.”
Also speaking at the conference was Syrian Minister of Endowments Mohammad Abdelsattar al-Sayyed, who said the resistance front was to clinch a big victory.
He said the deviating ideology of Wahhabism and Takfirism had no place in Syria.
He also said that Iran, led by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement also contributed to Syria’s great achievements in its anti-terror fight.
