The deadly incident has been met with reactions from world countries and organizations.
Rouhani sent a message to the President of the Russian Federation over St. Petersburg metro bombing and
Iran’s chief executive also expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate with the Russian government in this regard.

With the deepest feelings of sorrow and grief, I learned about the terrorist blast in St. Petersburg metro which left a number of innocent Russians dead and injured. I hereby strongly condemn the heinous crime and express my and the Iranian nation's deepest condolences and sympathy to your Excellency and the people of Russia, wishing for patience and serenity for the bereaved families of the horrible incident.
As we pointed out in our recent negotiations, rooting out all kinds of terrorism regardless of their motives requires collective efforts by the global community and cooperation by all countries to combat the intellectual origins and the supporters of the criminal groups.
Within this framework, I deem it necessary to express the Islamic Republic of Iran's readiness to cooperate with the government of Russia in this field.
I seize the opportunity to renew my warmest regards.

On Monday, the blast ripped through a subway train traveling between Russian city St. Petersburg’s Sennaya Ploshad and Technological Institute stations. The Kremlin has stated that the incident has “all the hallmarks of an attack.”
Following the blast, the city’s metro system was closed down as police found and defused another explosive device in another station.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that the attack highlights the need for joint efforts against global terrorism. "(This tragedy in St Petersburg) once again shows the importance of stepping up joint efforts to combat this evil."
