According to a report by Jamaran news agency, Imam Khomeini’s grandson in a meeting with the employees of the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works and other related organizations, by mentioning that talking about Imam isn’t a personal issue,said: “Shia doesn’t worship one as an idol, but when we keep Imam’s memory alive it’s because he is a unique symbol, the symbol of independence, freedom and the Islamic republic, as when we keep the memory of the holy Prophet, that’s not about the person also. He is a man like all humans, but he’s a symbol because he’s the messenger of God. We see Imam Ali (`a), Hadrat Fatimah(s) and Imam Hussein (`a) as great persons because they are like a flag, we hold this flag so we could gather around it. Glorifying them is a need for us, and this us who needs the identity flag.”
Hojatoleslam Sayyid Hassan Khomeini by mentioning the carol sang by some Gorgani youth about him in this meeting said: “All passions start from being agonistic. Those who work in places related to Imam, have no right to be selfish have to remember that when we are talking about Imam it’s because of holding the flag.”
He continued by referring to that what is Imam a symbol to and stated: “Imam is the symbol of four important issues, first, human rationality. All of Imam’s behaviors were based on human rationality and he never relied on superstition and irrational issues. “
He added: “There were some among the scholars that moved by their dreams, especially those who are more religious. But Imam never acted based on these issues. Imam even didn’t use an Istikharah during the war.”
He added: “Imam’s fly to Tehran on February 1st was the most important incident in the last century of Iran’s history. This factor is important that every thing is gathered within a person’s behavior and in a short time something big happens and its impact would be so vast. Imam’s fly was an important incident. But Imam didn’t use an Istikharah for it. He had his consultants and he made his decision with consulting and not with irrational issues.”
Hojatoleslam Sayyid Hassan Khomeini by mentioning that being rational doesn’t conflict with Tawakol (total reliance on Allah) and praying, said: “When one reaches to a decision by a rational way, then he relies on God, and praying should be along side with a rational manner. The Prophet didn’t wait for Gabriel at the Battle of the Trench. He decided rationally during the Battle of Uhud. He never entered a battle without planning.”
He stated: “During the revolution and the war Imam acted completely rationally. Imam’s movement was for God’s sake, as Imam Ali (`a) did but Muawiyyah rationality was for his own sake. Working for God’s sake gives value to the work, but this doesn’t mean that when we work for the sake of God we shouldn’t be rational. For example economics has some rules. Liquidity brings inflation, we should accept these rules.”
In continue he referred to Islamic morality as the second issue of Imam’s character and stated: “Imam lived based on morality. He never explained anything just for his purpose. When agony begins, immorality also begins. Before anything Imam is a teacher for morality.”
Hojatoleslam Sayyid Hassan Khomeini named the third issue as the Shia fish and stated: “Imam is a faqih. All of his manners are based on his fish understanding. Entering the politics was based on his understating from fiqh, he never let go of the Shia fiqh. So analyzing his manner without having in mind his fiqh would mislead us.”
He named the fourth issue in Imam’s life as National Unity and said: “In every aspect of Imam’s political manners what is completely obvious is unity. That the society shouldn’t be parted, this that everyone should be “Us”. We should remember that “All together” was Imam’s motto.”
Hojatoleslam Sayyid Hassan Khomeini stated: “If we want to know Imam and want to prevent from a caricature look to him we should have in mind all these four issues. A caricature has a color from the reality but it isn’t the reality. In a caricature the relations are resolved.”
He stated: “We should see all these four issues at once. Imam is a faqih that respects morality and in his decisions he relays on rationality and as the most important strategy he relays on national unity.”
At the end he mentioned that this organization which is related to Imam has a good ability and he pointed to the employees of the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works: “We should always look forward. We should criticize ourselves. We should see the mistakes. But we shouldn’t forget the abilities and hard works. Each year we should prepare ourselves for bigger works.”
Before his speech a carol singing group from the Golestan province sang a carol about the grandson of Imam, and Sayyid Hassan by thanking them recommended that these kinds of songs should be about Imam. About this issue he told a memory about Imam, that once the late Fakhruddin Shirazi had read a poem about Imam and Imam had reacted to him.
