Listen to the barefooted (the deprived)

Whenever the Imam received any of the country’s officials, he would initially urge them to pay attention to the weak and deprived strata. Whenever I myself would go to see the Imam before my scheduled journeys for the purpose of attending to affairs related to the ideological-political organization of the gendarmerie forces, I would be all ears to his recommendations and guidelines. On one such occasion, the Imam stated to me: “Urge everybody (in your organization) to behave well and in Islamic manner with people and to take steps towards solving their problems.” He often said: “address the problems and grievances of the barefooted (the deprived) and know that now that our country is an Islamic state, its security and police forces ought to be the companions of the deprived and to be one-hundred percent on their side. They should take steps towards addressing the problems of the deprived strata and observe Islamic ethics in their approach and interactions with them.”
