Closing ceremony organized to mark end of cultural week

A closing ceremony has been held to mark the end of a cultural week which saw several programs, ceremonies and seminars organized about Imam’s ideals.

A variety of programs were held in historic city of Khomein, Tehran and other Iranian cities during the span of period.


The programs were attended by intellectuals, university and seminary professors.


Imam, who established an Islamic democratic system in Iran, remains popular among the world Muslims and oppressed nations of the world due to his stance against global arrogance


 Imam Khomeini spent over 14 years in exile, mostly in the holy city of Najaf in Iraq. Initially, he was sent to Turkey on 4 November 1964, where he stayed in the city of Bursa for less than a year. He was hosted by a Turkish Colonel named Ali Cetiner in his own residence, who couldn't find another accommodation alternative for his stay at the time. Later in October 1965 he was allowed to move to Najaf, Iraq, where he stayed until being forced to leave in 1978. Imam then spent some months in the French city of Nofel Loshato where he conveyed his message for the entire world


Only two weeks after the Shah fled Iran on January 16, 1979, Imam Khomeini returned to Iran triumphantly, on Thursday, February 1, 1979, invited by the anti-Shah revolution which was already in progress.


The cultural week is each year held on the birth anniversary of Imam Khomeini. Ruhollah Mousavi was born to Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Musavi and Hajieh Khanum on 20 Jamadi al-Akhir 1320/ 24 September 1902, the anniversary of the birth of Hazrat Fatima (‘a), in the small town of Khomein, some 160 kilometers to the southwest of Qum.


He was the child of a family with a long tradition of religious scholarship. His ancestors, descendants of Imam Musa al-Kazim, the seventh Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt.


Imam had well command over a range of Islamic and interdisciplinary fields such as jurisprudencephilosophymysticism and poetry. Several of his works are translated more than 20 living languages over the past few years.
